Dr. Jeff Taylor
Professor of Political Science
Dr. Jeff Taylor is a professor of political science at °¼Í¹ÊÓƵ. His research focuses on populism, American political history, and U.S. foreign policy.
Dr. Taylor is the author of three books: The Political World of Bob Dylan: Freedom and Justice, Power and Sin (2015), Politics on a Human Scale: The American Tradition of Decentralism (2013), and Where Did the Party Go?: William Jennings Bryan, Hubert Humphrey, and the Jeffersonian Legacy (2006). He has also had several articles published in journals, magazines, and online.
He is the faculty sponsor of the °¼Í¹ÊÓƵRepublicans Club and a member of the Teacher Preparation Advisory Committee.
"I am interested in how power is at the heart of politics, with great potential for good and bad," adds Taylor. "I want to help students and others understand how power works in the world and how it can be used wisely and ethically to advance the common good and the Kingdom of God."
In addition to his academic role, Dr. Taylor currently serves 60,000 Iowans as a State Senator in Iowa.
Before joining Dordt’s faculty, Dr. Taylor taught at Jacksonville State University, Western Illinois University, and Rochester Community and Technical College.
