Ƶ will partner with
(MACU) of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, to help their students fast-track a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree.
MACU students who are earning a Bachelor of Science degree in counseling and psychology may be eligible for credit at Ƶtoward an MSW.
“The partnership will allow MACU grads, interested in social work, to streamline the process of getting into the field,” says Dr. David King, professor of counseling at MACU. “This will add more Christian social workers to the workforce and allow our students to become productive members of society sooner.”
Dordt’s MSW program integrates Christian values that teach social workers how to serve and minister to their clients as image-bearers and to share the grace of the gospel, says Joe Bakker, dean for online, graduate, and partner programs at Dordt.
“Students graduating from other Christian universities are looking for that faith-integration as they look for a MSW program,” he adds.
Dr. Erin Olson, director of Dordt’s MSW program, appreciates the opportunity to work with MACU as well as other partner schools and to hear about the work they are doing in preparing students for work in human services and other helping professions.
“It's been encouraging to hear their excitement about our MSW program and how it might fit the needs of their students and graduates,” she says. “The partnership with MACU provides their students with the opportunity to continue their education at Ƶwhere they will be even more challenged and encouraged to continue in their journey as a Christian helper. Our program will allow them to further develop their professional skills while also continuing to build the firm foundation for those skills in their belief that all people are made in the image of God.”
