
Ƶ senior art students to present final exhibitions and group reception on April 24
Three Ƶ senior art students will present their final exhibitions on April 24. There will also be a group reception in the lower level of the Campus Center.
Isaiah Nanninga and MuYi Liu were recognized as this year's recipients of Ƶ's Student Employee of the Year Award.
During National Student Employee Week (April 13 –19), Ƶ officials recognized Isaiah Nanninga and MuYi Liu as this year’s student employees of the year. They each received a $500 payroll bonus as well as the Ƶ Student Employee of the Year Award.
To be eligible for the award, students need to be nominated and serve in their nominated role for the entire academic year. The selection process considers total hours worked, number of semesters in the role, and supervisor evaluations. Supervisors ranked nominees in these areas: leadership, teamwork, work ethic, attitude and problem solving. Optional recommendation letters also were submitted and considered.
According to Nanninga’s supervisor, Associate Athletic Director Trent Roose, Nanninga’s greatest attribute is his integrity and positive attitude. “He has made a conscious effort in welcoming all facility users and assisting them as needed in the American State Bank Sports Complex and the Sioux Center community,” he says. “Nanninga serves as a tremendous role model for the young student employees who are currently under his care. He has made a large impact in all settings in which he has been placed.”
Similarly, Liu’s supervisors, Computer Service Specialist Sandy Reitsma and Computing Specialist Jaris Visscher, say, “His friendly and approachable nature makes him a joy to work with. Whether assisting faculty, staff, or fellow students, his ability to build strong relationships with those around him fosters a welcoming and collaborative environment, making Computer Services not just a workplace but a place where people feel valued and supported.”
During the 2024–2025 academic year, over 850 students were employed on campus at Ƶ. “We view student employment at Ƶas a co-curricular activity and an essential component of a student’s overall education,” says Director of Student Employment Kyle Achterhoff. “Not only do the students learn essential skills, but they also contribute to Dordt’s broader community, helping campus operate smoothly.”
“Ƶcould not function without our student employees, and we’re so grateful for all they do,” he adds.

Ƶ will host a small ensembles concert on Monday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will include two student-led groups and two faculty-led groups.
