͹Ƶ Agriculture and ISU Extension to host Field Day

͹Ƶ and ISU Extension partner to bring the latest research to local crop farmers on September 6.

͹Ƶ and the Iowa State University Extension will be hosting a Field Day on Wednesday, September 6, with a burger meal at 5:30 p.m and tours starting at 6:15 p.m. at Dordt’s Agriculture Stewardship Center.

As farmers are seeking answers to their questions and considering ways to prepare for their next growing season, ͹Ƶ and the ISU Extension: Farmer Co-operator Trials group are joining together to provide research and answer questions.

“We are highlighting research that is particularly relevant to protecting soil and water resources and identifying a new, serious soybean pest,” says Gary De Vries, instructor of agriculture at ͹Ƶ.

The topics covered will include:

  • Soybean Gall Midge Detection, Characteristics, and Control – Doug DeGraff, Area Sales Manager for AMVAC
  • The Effects of Cover Crop Interseeding in Corn – Andrew Weaver, Superintendent at the NW Iowa Research Farm
  • Current Issues for this Cropping Season – Leah Ten Napel, ISU Area Extension Agronomist

“͹Ƶ and ISU Extension share a common goal of providing unbiased research data to assist in the decision-making process for farm operations,” says De Vries. “The event is going to be informative and helpful as producers make decisions for the future.”

The ͹Ƶ Ag Stewardship Center is located 1 and 2/3 miles north of Pella Corp. at 3648 US 75.
