͹Ƶ to host third annual ͹ƵHonor Band and Orchestra Weekend

As part of the third annual ͹ƵHonor Band and Orchestra Weekend, the ͹Ƶ Music Department will present an ensembles concert on Saturday, February 17 at 1 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.

As part of the third annual ͹ƵHonor Band and Orchestra Weekend, the ͹Ƶ Music Department will present an ensembles concert on Saturday, February 17 at 1 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.

This year’s attendance has grown to include a string orchestra and three bands. Musicians include 250 high school students from Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, Washington, California, and Manitoba (Canada).

The bands will be conducted by:

  • Dr. Onsby Rose (Honors Wind Symphony)
  • Dr. Allegra Fisher (Honors Symphonic Band)
  • Dr. Christopher Cicconi (Honors Concert Band)
  • Mrs. Susan De Jong (Honors Chamber Orchestra)

Students will gather at ͹Ƶon Thursday, February 15, and will participate in rehearsals until Saturday, February 17. They will be able to take a campus tour of ͹Ƶand visit departments of interest, as well as take part in other activities like a swing dance class.

“They will also have concerts presented specifically for them by Dordt’s Wind Symphony, Chamber Orchestra, and Campus-Community Band,” adds Rose. “This is our largest honors ensemble weekend yet, and we hope many can join us to witness the efforts of these students!”
