U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley to speak at Dordt

United States Senator for Iowa Chuck Grassley, the longest serving U.S. senator in Iowa history, will speak at the Agriculture Stewardship Center (ASC) on Saturday, October 29 at 11 a.m. as part of the dedication of three buildings recently constructed at the ASC.
The public is invited to attend the dedication. Tours of the facilities will be provided following the presentation.
Senator Grassley has served as one of Iowa’s U.S. senators since 1981. According to , “Grassley’s extraordinary work ethic and passion for civic engagement is hardwired for public service. He began growing corn and soybeans at an early age and is one of only two active farmers in the Senate today.” Grassley previously served in the Iowa state legislature and the U.S. House of Representatives.
In addition, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig will speak at the facilities dedication alongside Ƶfaculty and students.
Three buildings will be dedicated at the event: the monoslope building, the greenhouse, and the commodity storage building. The new monoslope building gives students a large lab space to work with live animals such as beef cattle, calves, and dairy heifers. The three-season greenhouse will allow agriculture students and faculty to start planting from seed early in the spring and maintain the plants through late fall. The commodity storage building is used to store feed for the animals.
