Opening Doors

Georgia began ͹Ƶnervous to attend school in a brand new place halfway across the country, but excited to meet new people and get involved on campus. She soon found that the friends, professors, and people in the community make ͹Ƶfeel like a second home. As the lead Ag Ambassador on campus, Georgia was able to attend the World Food Prize, National FFA Convention, and Iowa State FFA Convention representing Dordt.

“I was also in the Ag Club and Trapshooting Club,” Georgia adds. “I worked on a local farm a few days a week, and interned at a diverse vegetable production farm in NJ, Smithfield Hog Production in North Carolina, and a ranch in Idaho! I have gotten to travel to so many cool places not only with ͹Ƶbut also with friends, and I am always keeping myself busy!”

One of the most valuable lessons that Georgia learned at ͹Ƶwas how to glorify God in everything, rather than putting pressure on herself and her own perfectionism.

“I think one was the concept that, especially in agriculture, our faith is so integrated into everything we do,” she says. “I grew up in a Christian family, but went to public high school. It was really amazing to see how the professors reminded us that our faith is the center of everything we do, and that ultimately we are here to serve our Creator.”

After graduating, Georgia accepted a job at SJ Ranch in Oglesby, Texas as a herd manager and business assistant. She is grateful for the ways ͹Ƶshaped her, through well-rounded education and experiences. Georgia’s faith grew and she felt ready to become a leader and servant for God’s kingdom, while having a lot of fun along the way.

“My experience at ͹Ƶhas allowed me the opportunity to go above and beyond in everything I have been a part of. It has opened doors for me, I could have never imagined. I have been able to be a part of so many different groups on campus, and been able to use what I am learning at college to excel in my internships and jobs. If I had not attended ͹ƵI don't think I would've been able to be a part of the things I have. I am so thankful for the past four years, and excited to see where I go from here.”
