Ƶworship arts releases original tracks from recent graduate
Ƶ Worship Arts recently released four original tracks of worship music by recent Ƶalumna Kira Waite. The new releases combine Waite’s theological reflection and musical expertise, strengthened through her studies for her Bachelor of Worship Arts at Dordt. The tracks were a part of Waite’s senior project. They demonstrate songwriting for worship across several genres.
“This senior worship arts project has been the culmination of months of sowing and planting and expectation for all that will flower and bloom,” says Waite. “And now the season to witness the beautiful harvest has finally come. I’m simply overjoyed.”
According to those who worked with Waite, her songs are filled with creativity, skill, and influence from biblical studies. The project is an example of the opportunities that Ƶcreates, allowing students to engage in work in ministry.
Alex Priore, Director of Production Arts at Dordt, helped engineer and produce the tracks.
“It's been my privilege and joy to work with the amazing worship arts students at Dordt,” says Priore. “Kira's songwriting style is heartfelt, emotional, and melodic and I loved being able to work with her to help sonically capture these songs.”
The songs feature several recent Ƶgraduates and current students. One of those students, Nicole Mahoney, worked on the design of the tracks. She shares that “the guidance of the Lord is so evident in every melody and every lyric.”
Ƶalumni and students involved in the project include:
