Two art exhibits featuring art from Ƶ seniors are now on display in the Campus Center Art Gallery.
The Ƶ Department of Art & Design is pleased to present the senior art exhibits of graduating seniors Logan Baccam and Julia Visser, both of which are located in the Campus Center Art Gallery.
A joint artist reception will be held on Monday, April 28, at 7 p.m. in the Campus Center Art Gallery to celebrate both artists and their work. The community is warmly invited to attend the reception and view both exhibits during the show dates.
The exhibitions are free and open to the public from April 14 through May 10, 2025.
Julia Visser, a senior art major with an emphasis in graphic design from Ripon, California, presents her photography exhibit "A Witness to Wonders" inside the Campus Center Art Gallery. Her work invites viewers to notice the beauty of God’s creation not only in nature but also in the faces and everyday moments of those around us. With a candid and compassionate lens, Visser celebrates the inherent worth of individuals as image-bearers of Christ.
“This show celebrates real people in real moments,” says Visser. “It invites viewers to reflect on the question: Who is your neighbor? Do you truly see the Wonder that they are?”
Logan Baccam, an art major from Hull, Iowa, presents his exhibit titled “Tension.” Through a deeply personal and reflective collection, Baccam explores the struggle of trying to give oneself fully to everything, only to feel fragmented and stretched thin. Inspired by the books You’re Only Human and Wholeheartedness: Busyness, Exhaustion, and Healing the Divided Self, as well as a Ƶcourse called “Good Design of Limits,” Baccam’s work portrays the emotional and spiritual strain of attempting to hold everything together without surrendering control to God.
“We grasp at everything only to get stretched apart and torn by ourselves,” Baccam reflects. “The goal of this show is to capture the tension between the façade of control and the peace that comes from trusting God's hand.”
